Introduction to Dysarthria: The Impact of Speech Sound Disorders

12:00 - 1:00 pmNortheastern University Vancouver Campus (1400 - 410 West Georgia Street)

Dysarthria is a motor speech disorder that affects millions of people. It can result in stigma, difficulty being understood, and an impaired ability to communicate in everyday situations. It may also look different from person to person and can vary in how it sounds as well as how severe it can be. Dysarthria is also a relatively unknown and underserved area of study and technological advancements.

Join Katelyn Eng, Speech-Language Pathologist, and Assistant Teaching Professor with Khoury College of Computer Sciences, Aanchan Mohan, as they introduce the characteristics and types of dysarthria, as well as explore how people are impacted by speech sound disorders.
